A short looping demo of the ClearStatement app with sample data: three statements are dropped in, every transaction is sorted into categories, two unmatched lines are categorised with AI, and the results are exported to Excel.
  1. 1Drop in statements
  2. 2Categorised in seconds

26 default categories, editable per client. All matching runs in your browser. AI assistance for unmatched items is optional and off unless you ask for it. Sample data shown.

Everything you need for faster affordability checks

ClearStatement handles the tedious part so you can focus on advising your clients.

Instant categorisation

Sorts hundreds of transactions into lender-friendly categories — income, mortgage, utilities, groceries and more — in seconds. The matching runs inside your browser.

CSV & PDF support

Works with bank statement exports from all major UK banks. Upload a CSV or PDF and let ClearStatement do the rest.

Excel export

Download a fully formatted Excel workbook with itemised transactions, category totals, and monthly averages — ready to share with a lender.

Print-ready PDF report

Generate a clean, professional PDF summary of the categorised statement that you can attach to any mortgage application.

Private by design

Statements are read and categorised on your own machine. The file is never uploaded and we store no client data. Built to meet UK GDPR requirements for financial data.

Optional AI assist

Unmatched transactions are flagged, never guessed at. Assign them yourself in a click, or choose to send just those descriptions for AI categorisation. It is off unless you ask for it, every session.

Statement formats we read today

Current accounts and credit cards, as CSV exports or PDF statements, including several layout variants per bank.

Current accounts
Barclays Chase Co-operative Bank First Direct Halifax HSBC Lloyds Metro Bank Monzo Nationwide NatWest RBS Santander Starling TSB
Credit cards
American Express Barclaycard Halifax Mastercard HSBC Lloyds MBNA Nationwide NatWest Tesco Bank Vanquis Virgin Money

Twenty-six formats in all. Each one is built against a real, redacted statement and verified by reconciling the parsed totals against that statement's own printed Money In, Money Out and closing balance figures — not by eye. RBS support covers Basic and Foundation Account statements; Select Account statements aren't supported yet. ClearStatement reads a statement's structure rather than looking for a bank's name, so an export from a bank not listed here will often still parse correctly.

Statement not listed?

Tell us from inside the app and send us the statement. We'll reply the same working day. Most new layouts are supported within a few working days of us seeing a real one — we build each format against an actual statement rather than guessing at it.

Common questions
Is my client's data safe?
Your statement file is read and categorised in your browser. It is never uploaded, and we store no client data on our servers. If you choose to use the optional AI assist for transactions the rules didn't match, only the description and amount of those specific transactions are sent, over an encrypted connection, to our own service and on to our AI provider. The file itself, the account details and everything already matched stay on your machine. You are asked to confirm before anything is sent, and that confirmation resets each session.
Which banks and file formats are supported?
ClearStatement reads both CSV exports and PDF statements, across twenty-six formats. Current accounts: Barclays, Chase, Co-operative Bank, First Direct, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds, Metro Bank, Monzo, Nationwide, NatWest, RBS (Basic and Foundation accounts), Santander, Starling and TSB. Credit cards: American Express, Barclaycard, Halifax Mastercard, HSBC, Lloyds, MBNA, Nationwide, NatWest, Tesco Bank, Vanquis and Virgin Money. Because the parser reads a statement’s structure rather than looking for a bank’s name, other banks often work too. If yours doesn’t, send it to us and we’ll add it.
How does the categorisation work?
Each transaction is matched against a template of 26 categories and their keywords, which you can edit for any client. Anything the rules can't place is flagged rather than guessed at, so you can assign it in a click — and adding that keyword to your template means it is matched automatically next time.
Do I need to install anything?
No. ClearStatement runs entirely in your web browser — no installation, no software to update. When you subscribe you'll get an email inviting you to activate your account and set a password.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Cancel whenever you like with no penalties. Your card is collected at signup but you won't be charged until after your 7-day free trial ends. Use the billing portal to manage or cancel your subscription.
