Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 October 2026  ·  Operated by Onevia Technology Ltd, trading as ClearStatement

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using ClearStatement ("the Service"). By subscribing to or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About ClearStatement

ClearStatement is a software-as-a-service tool that assists UK mortgage brokers in categorising bank statement transactions. Categorisation is performed within your browser by matching transactions against a category template that you control. Where a transaction is not matched, you may optionally choose to submit it for AI-assisted categorisation; this is not enabled by default.

The Service is operated by Onevia Technology Ltd (company number 17386326), trading as ClearStatement, registered office 18 Turpins Way, Baldock, England, SG7 6LW.

2. Eligibility

The Service is intended for use by authorised and regulated mortgage brokers and financial intermediaries operating in the United Kingdom. By subscribing, you confirm that you are acting in a business capacity and not as a consumer.

3. Subscription and Payment

  • The Service is provided on a monthly subscription basis, priced per seat (one seat per authorised user): £30.00 per seat per month for seats 1 to 5, and £25.00 per seat per month for each additional seat from 6 to 10. Prices exclude VAT, which is charged at the prevailing UK rate. Pricing for more than 10 seats is agreed separately in writing.
  • New subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. Your payment card will be charged after the trial period ends unless you cancel beforehand.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You may cancel at any time via the customer portal.
  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe. ClearStatement does not store your card details.
  • Prices may change with 30 days' written notice to your registered email address.

4. Your Account

Upon subscribing, you will receive an email inviting you to activate your account and set a password. Your login credentials are personal to you and must not be shared with third parties. ClearStatement reserves the right to suspend or revoke access to any account found to be in unauthorised use.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Share your account credentials with any other person or organisation
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or replicate the Service
  • Use the Service to process data for which you do not have the appropriate permissions
  • Upload any data that is not genuine bank statement data

6. Data and Privacy

Bank statement data is read and processed within your browser — the statement file itself is never uploaded to our servers. Transactions matched by your category template are categorised without anything leaving your browser. If you choose to use AI-assisted categorisation for transactions that were not matched, the description, amount and direction (money in or out) of those transactions only are sent over an encrypted connection to our own backend service, which forwards them to our AI categorisation provider (Anthropic) and returns the result to your browser. We do not send the statement file, the account holder's name, account numbers or sort codes. You are asked to confirm before any transaction data is sent, and that confirmation applies to your current session only. No client data is stored on ClearStatement's servers at any point.

You remain responsible as the data controller for any personal data you process using the Service. By using the Service, you agree to our Privacy Policy and to ensure your use is compliant with UK GDPR and any applicable FCA requirements.

7. Categorisation and File Checks

All categorisation, whether performed by the Service's own matching rules within your browser or by the optional AI-assisted categorisation feature, is provided as a productivity aid only. ClearStatement does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any categorisation output, of any category totals or averages derived from it, or of any transaction data extracted from an uploaded statement file. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all categorised transactions and any exported report before relying on them for any mortgage application or financial assessment.

The Service may also show file checks, which look for signs that an uploaded PDF statement has been altered since it was produced. These checks are indicators only: a statement with no warnings is not confirmed as genuine, a warning is not a finding that it has been altered, and you remain responsible for satisfying yourself that the documents your clients provide are authentic.

8. Availability

ClearStatement aims to provide continuous availability of the Service but does not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance or third-party outages (including Anthropic or Cloudflare) may occasionally affect availability. No refunds are provided for temporary outages.

9. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in the Service, including its code, design, and content, are owned by or licensed to ClearStatement. You are granted a limited, non-transferable licence to use the Service for the duration of your subscription.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ClearStatement shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to losses arising from inaccurate categorisation or transaction extraction, data loss, or service interruption.

ClearStatement's total liability to you in any 12-month period shall not exceed the total subscription fees paid by you during that period.

11. Termination

You may cancel your subscription at any time via the customer portal. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. ClearStatement may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are breached.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to These Terms

ClearStatement may update these Terms from time to time. You will be notified of material changes by email. Continued use of the Service after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
